Jessica Seares was featured on Court TV as a contributor on February 23, 2022.  Ms. Seares was asked to comment on two highly prominent ongoing trials.  The first case was the so-called “popcorn murder trial” in Florida, in which former police captain Curtis Reeves shot and killed Chad Oulson after Mr. Oulson threw popcorn on Mr. Reeves during a movie.  In that case, the testimony of an expert on aging played a key role in the defense’s ultimately successful strategy of arguing self-defense.  Having significant practice experience in admissibility of evidence, Ms. Seares was asked to comment on how expert testimony can affect a jury’s assessment of the case.  Ms. Seares also provided perspective on important testimony in the trial of an officer involved in the shooting death of Breonna Taylor in Louisville, Kentucky.
